What Happened in 1927…

  • Charles Augustus Lindbergh was the Time magazine “person of the year”
  • The Oscars were first awarded (“Wings” was the best movie, Emil Jannings won the best actor for his part in – The Way of All Flesh)
  • The Great Mississippi Flood
  • Chemical Abstracts only listed 25,073 papers and 7872 patents (606,680 papers and 144,498 patents in 2001)
  • The “History of Chemisty” and “Polymeric Materials, Science and Engineering” ACS divisions were founded
  • The ACS Womens Chemisty Committee was formed …
  • Princeton local section of the American Chemical Society was formed
