Prior Degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Physics, University of California at Berkeley, 2011
Desmond is currently a 3rd year Graduate Student, working on polarization-based considerations for possible quantification of nuclear and electronic contributions to coherences observed in ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy. After graduation from UC Berkeley Physics in 2011, he worked on Molecular Dynamics in the Institute of High Performance Computing (Singapore) from 2011 to 2012, and on Atomic Force Microscopy in the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (Singapore) from 2012 to 2013.
Despite Desmond’s physical and computational background, he has always had a love for understanding complex living systems. This is why he is working at the intersection of physics, chemistry and biology. Favorite Hobbies: Reading, jogging, swimming and watching Japanese anime. Favorite Scientists: Richard Feynman, Francis Crick and Oliver Heaviside.
